Genome analysis
Genetic factors are known to play a role in bipolar disorder. Since the role of de novo mutations are suggested to play a role in autism and schizophrenia, they might also play a role in bipolar disorder. We are now searching for the genetic architecture of bipolar disorder including transmitted mutations, de novo mutations, and somatic mutations by exome sequencing of trio families of bipolar disorder. The laboratory is also a member of nation-wide genome wide association study. We are trying to narrow down the causative genes of bipolar disorder by bioinformatics analysis.
